The Verizon (MCI) World Traveler calling card enables military personnel to call back to the USA from U.S. Military Bases for the domestic USA rate of 6.8¢/min via the DSN.

Note: The MCI World Traveler will not work from AT&T Tents or AT&T Payphones.

If your Military Base has an AT&T phone tent, use an AT&T calling card to call back to the United States. A typical phone call made from Base in Iraq back to the USA can range anywhere from 50¢/min and higher. The AT&T card also works off-base, with competitive rates for calling to the rest of the World.

Calling Card Tips for Military Personnel & Families

  • Calling cards purchased over the Internet typically offer more competitive rates and higher quality connections; compared to calling cards that are purchased over the counter (OTC).
  • Purchase lower denomination calling cards and try to use them up during a single phone call. This tip may help you avoid additional fees to receive the minutes you have paid for.
  • Some calling cards will provide very different rates if used from a payphone or cellular phone. Likewise, calls originating from a country outside of the US and terminating in the US will have higher rates due to international surcharges.
